Short biography

Gaffa Tape Sandy are a garage rock trio from Bury St Edmunds and Brighton: Kim Jarvis (vocals, guitar), Catherine Lindley-Neilson (vocals, bass) and Robin Francis (drums). They played the BBC Music Introducing stage at Glastonbury in 2017, were named in the NME 100 in 2018 and released their debut album, Hold My Hand, God Damn It, on Alcopop! Records in May 2024.

Long biography

Gaffa Tape Sandy formed in 2015 at West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds. The name is a pun the three of them found at their first rehearsal: say “gaffa tape is handy” out loud.

Their first EP, Spring Killing, came out in April 2017, two months before they played the BBC Music Introducing stage at Glastonbury. NME put them in the NME 100 in 2018, a year that also took them to Latitude, The Great Escape, Truck, Y Not and Iceland Airwaves. They signed to Alcopop! Records in 2019 for a second EP, Family Mammal.

The debut album, Hold My Hand, God Damn It, was recorded and produced by George Perks at Vada Studios and released on 31 May 2024 by Alcopop! Records and, in the US, Counter Intuitive Records. The band has toured with The Subways, Mom Jeans and Destroy Boys, and opened for IDLES and Buzzcocks. A new single, “Home Waiting”, came out in August 2026.
